Finally, he had the opportunity to buy the home of his dreams. He says that he had to pay the previous owners back taxes, but that it wasn’t that bad. Clearly, it was all worth it to have a stunning cabin like this in the middle of the wilderness.

If you want privacy, look no further than this small off the grid cabin built on 114 acres of land. On the original Reddit post, you can see an entire photo gallery of the inside and outside of this cabin. The interior walls are made of corrugated metal. And there is a wood stove keeping the cabin warm. So it’s not very modern inside, but they seem very cozy cooking eggs and bacon on top of the stove. A lot of people will buy cabins like this specifically so that they can go hunting on their land. When they own over 100 acres, they can safely shoot deer and other wildlife without disturbing the neighbors. And they have plenty of land to build a larger house on the property if they ever chose to in the future.

In case you didn’t know, adobe houses are a traditional form of earthen architecture that have been used for thousands of years in the southwestern United States, Mexico, and South America. Adobe houses are made of mud bricks that are made from a mixture of clay, sand, and water. The bricks are usually dried in the sun, which makes them hard and durable. It Took 7 Years to Finish This Homestead Masterpiece

Homesteading is a lifestyle that involves living off the land, being self-sufficient, and producing one’s own food and resources. We can only assume that this person has stunning views when they look out their front window. In our opinion, this is an example of living in true luxury. Nothing like McMansions, which are crowded together and suburban neighborhoods where your view is your neighbor’s yard.

Our next cabin on the list comes from a blog called Intentionally Unconventional. On their website, they include both a video and over a dozen images of the process of building this cabin. They built the entire house only using trees from their own property that were cut using a chainsaw mill. Before building their cabin, these people were living out of an RV. if they even put a wood stove in the RV to help heat it in the winter time. Obviously, this off the grid cabin was way more comfortable than living in a motorhome. The homeowner spent 8 months working 6 days a week to build this cabin on his own. But he got it done in time for Christmas.

Most of the cabins on this list were posted by the owner. But in this image, someone on Reddit found their dream property that they wish they could build an off the grid lifestyle on. The property has roughly 10 acres of land, with most of them covered in trees. There are about 2 acres in the center of the plot that have been cleared where a home is built. Since there are so many trees, it gives the homeowners plenty of privacy. But, as someone pointed out in the comment section, it doesn’t stop weirdos from looking you up on Google Earth…Which is exactly what happened with this post.

For people who hate the cold, the idea of living in Alaska might seem like a nightmare. But there is no denying that this photograph is truly cozy and magical. This cabin in particular looks like one of those prefabricated kits that you can buy from a builder. The Pacific Northwest is also known for its cloudy and overcast weather, particularly during the fall and winter months. Prefabricated homes are typically a lot cheaper than most other options. And it comes with the added benefit of being able to literally move an entire house to a new location. The caption of the photo said that they are making pancakes on a 30 degree day. Wow. This photograph truly looks like something out of a magazine. Imagine being snowed in around Christmas time in this magical cabin, with a cup of coffee or cocoa to warm you by the wood stove. It turns out that this cabin belongs to someone with a YouTube channel called A Cabin and 50 Acres. Their channel shows their viewers exactly how they built this cabin by hand. Off The Grid Cabin on a Tiny Private Island

Nothing says privacy more than having a literal private island to yourself. Someone in Maine decided to build this log cabin on a private island, and live completely off the grid. There are only three photos on Reddit, so we don’t get a good idea of what the interior looks like. This looks very rustic, and reminds us of camping in the summertime. However, we’re sure that this homeowner is probably able to stay in the winter if they really wanted to. In the comment section, they said that the island is roughly 1/2 of an acre. They regularly bring their friends and family to the island where they pitch their own tents and have a private camping spot. The only way to access the island is by boat, or by ski-doo.

If you don’t have access to electric lights, or if you want to save power when the sun goes down, it makes sense to read by kerosene light. This is something that people did for hundreds of years before electricity. Believe it or not, kerosine lamps are still being manufactured today, and you can buy a brand new one for $20. (No need to search an antique shop for a vintage one.) They say that reading in the dark can put a strain on your eyesight. But it still looks incredibly cozy and fun to be reading by a candlelight.

In The Winter, This Cabin is Only Accessible by Snowmobile

This is a 30 ft wide yurt located just outside of Asheville, North carolina. The original poster said that they have been living in this cabin for 8 months straight off the grid. In the comments section they say that they got a permit to do pretty much everything except add a septic system to the forest. So they have to use a composting toilet. Since they moved in roughly about a year ago, it’s clear that the pandemic must have been part of their motivation to get away from society. In the comment section, they said that the roof should last for at least 8 to 10 years, and that it only cost around $1,000 to replace. So it’s very cheap, and easy to maintain.

So far in this last, we have had mostly cabins from North america. But this one is a little bit different, because it is located in the Himalayas. The caption of this photo says, “My off-grid escape in the Himalayas. For ME time.” In case you didn’t know, The Himalayas are a mountain range located in Asia. They span across several countries including India, Nepal, Bhutan, China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It is home to some of the tallest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest. In the comment section, the original poster and some others discuss how this would be the perfect place to survive the apocalypse. Apparently there is a lot they can forage to survive off the land, and it’s not too far from a nearby village.

Cooking On a Wood Fire Stove

Here is yet another picture showing what life would be like living inside of an off the grid cabin. They are cooking burgers and fries on top of the wood stove. In case you’ve never used a wood stove before, they get so hot that it will literally boil water if you put a kettle on top of it. So it’s actually very useful, because it is heating the home and also gives you a place to cook at the same time. The only downside is that you can’t touch it, or you will burn yourself. This makes it really dangerous to have around young kids who don’t know any better. So it’s probably wise to just have some adult time in this cabin.

A lot of people who live outside of California will assume that it never snows there. That’s probably because we always think of Hollywood and Southern California that we see in movies and TV shows. But the truth is that Northern California actually does get snow, Especially in the mountainous areas. I’m assuming that this is powered by solar panels, because they clearly have electricity running the computer.
